The Burbank Fire Department has implemented an online program for the submittal of fire and life safety system reports. Fire protection and life safety systems are among the most important components in any building to preserve lives, protect property, and enhance firefighter safety.

The Compliance Engine by BRYCER was selected to provide a single point online reporting system.  The Compliance Engine is a web-based technology service and analytic suite that will assist the Burbank Fire Department in proactively driving fire code compliance and ensure a safer community.

Reports must be submitted through this system starting September 1, 2021.

All fire protection systems in the City of Burbank are required by the fire code to be inspected tested and maintained on regular intervals.  Please see the current fire code for schedule.  The purpose of these inspections is to ensure the system will operate properly in the event of an incident, ensuring a safe environment by minimizing the risk of life and property loss.

All contractors who perform inspection, testing and maintenance services of fire protection systems are required to electronically submit all compliant and non-compliant reports to the department via www.thecomplianceengine.com.

Fire protections systems electronically tracked by the Burbank Fire Department include:

  • White Sprinkler HeadFire Alarm
  • Fire Sprinkler
  • 5 yr. Obstruction Sprinkler
  • Gas Detection System
  • Kitchen Hood Suppression
  • Kitchen Hood Exhaust Cleaning
  • Paint/Spray Booth
  • Smoke Control

This change will not impact a building owner’s ability to select an approved fire protection vendor or contractor.  Vendors conducting service and maintenance work on fire and life safety systems, within the City of Burbank, will be required to register and utilize The Compliance Engine.
